I was recently asked to swap a Dimebucker into a signature Dimebag Darrell guitar…the results were AMAZING!! (I only wish I could have swapped both)
Original state of the Dimebag Darrell siganture… String removal Dirty bridge block Watch out for falling string blocks!! Polishing those nasty old frets! Being careful to avoid the glow-in-the-dark star stickers! Removing the old standard pickup Found a neat surprise…the builder SIGNED this one! When it comes to mods, you need to make sure where the original wires go! Dimebucker wires fished through the hole neatly! Perfect fit… The pickup ring that came with the new Dimebucker did not quite fit Rather than drilling into the body, we decided to go with the original pickup ring instead.. Dale approved! De-soldering the old wires Soldering the new pickup And more soldering… Resetting the bridge, adding the springs Some new strings…It’s always good to use the tremolo bar to give access to the string allen key screws that hold them in place. You could use a tremolo block, but if you’re in a pinch, just use the bar! Ensure string placement is centered on the bridge is paramount to a good tuning and intonation on Floyd Rose bridge systems! All buttoned up Strings on, wiring job tested, and it sounds INCREDIBLE!
